Minister of Transportation: LRT Palembang will be the People's Pride

INDUSTRY.co.id - Palembang- Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said light railways (LRT) will be a pride for people, especially South Sumatra because mass transit is very modern.

Not only that, Palembang light rail is the first in Indonesia so it will be a pilot, said the minister in Palembang, Sunday (5/27/2018)

The Minister of Transportation is in South Sumatra to attend a series of National Dialogues and provide bus assistance for Palembang Unsri as well as review the development of a light rail or LRT.

Furthermore, he said, the public should be proud because the central government provides substantial funds in building the lines and procurement of electric railways.

The infrastructure is almost completed and rail has been installed, the minister said.

The electric train is a much needed mass transit in urban areas.

Moreover, a modern city needs the most sophisticated mass transit such as LRT, the minister said.

In fact, LRT is expected to change people's mindset in transportation usage.

However, he added, there is a light rail in this area because South Sumatra will host the 2018 Asian Games.

Accordingly, his side asked that the international sporting event should be supported together so that it will be successful.

Earlier Police Head of South Sumatra Police General Inspector General Zulkarnaen Adinegara said it would fully support the Asian Games success.

All parties must maintain security so that the big sports party is a success, he added.
