INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk and Citra Consortium are working together to work on Manila Taguig Expressway Project (MTEX) in the Philippines. Citra Consortium consists of PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk, PT Citra Persada Infrastructure, and CLGP Philipine Holding Inc.
The MTEX project will be built with a 18,18 kilometre drift construction along the banks of the Pasig River. This highway will cost construction of 43.754 billion pesos or equivalent to Rp11.578 trillion (exchange rate of 1US $ = Rp14,000).
Later, MTEX will connect between Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 and Metro Manila Expressway to the heart of Pasig, Makati, and Manila.
President Director of WIKA Tumiyana said, with the agreement between WIKA and Consortium Imagery, it is believed will strengthen WIKA's portfolio in overseas market.
"We welcome the signing of this joint memorandum of understanding to strengthen the existence of WIKA in the Philippines" said Tumiyana, in a press release on Wednesday (30/05/2018).
In addition to the Manila Project - Taguig Expressway plan, WIKA has also started reconstruction of Clarin Bridge in Bohol, Philippines. Clarin Bridge is included in the Bohol Circumferential Road which collapsed under the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines in 2013.
In the project, WIKA and local Philippine company VT Lao Construction are believed to be reconstructing Clarin Bridge with contract value of 445.8 million Philippine Pesos. The 104-meter bridge is targeted to be completed in October 2019 and is expected to facilitate access to tourism areas and accelerate the flow of goods and services mobilization in Bohol Province.
Director of Operations III, which oversees the operations and overseas construction of the Company, Destiawan Soewardjono added, WIKA's opportunity to develop overseas business is still very big, as the construction projects in various countries are rampant.
"The election of WIKA as a contractor on infrastructure projects of Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and Timor Leste, shows the recognition that the quality and competitiveness of the Indonesian Construction State in this case WIKA is reliable," explained Destiawan.
