Minister Airlangga Meet Blackberry Boss to Discuss Business and Technology Developments

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto today received the visit of Executive Chairman & CEO of Blackberry Canada, John Chen and CEO of EMTEK Group, Alvin Sariatmadja at the Office of the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta (9/8/2017).
PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk or formerly named PT Elang Mahkota Komputer Tbk, better known as EMTEK, is a company founded in 1983. The company is based in SCTV Tower, Senayan City.
"The company that provides personal computer services has evolved into a group of modern corporations and is integrated with three major business divisions, namely media, telecommunications and IT solutions, and connectivity," Airlangga said.
On the same occasion, Director General of ILMATE Kemenperin, I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan said that the meeting also reported the business development in Indonesia. "Blackberry Massager has been bought by Indonesian companies, and BB Red and White also has started assembled here," said Putu.
In addition, they also reported the security so far the mainstay of special Blackberry in data security in the network. "That's the excess of BB, because they have their own algorithm," he explained.
Furthermore, Putu added, BB Merah Putih has been launched, but the Minister asked not only one model, make another model as well. "But again there is a competition that is so tight here, because now there are more than 23 brands in Indonesia," he added.
Blackberry is a smart phone product manufactured by Blackberry Limited or formerly known as Research in Motion (RIM). RIM's first product is Inter@ctive Pager 900 which was launched in 1996. But for the first time RIM uses the name Blackberry, released on January 19, 1999 with the name of the Blackberry 850.
In September 2016, Blackberry said it would stop production of their mobile phones. In addition, they have also established partnerships with Elang Mahkota Teknologi (EMTEK) in Indonesia. This country is Blackberry's biggest market compared to other countries around the world.
