INDUSTRY.co.id - Seram Island - Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing (PUPR) has gradually built Trans Jaya along 914 Km in Seram Island, Maluku Province.
Infrastructure development in Seram Island is the realization of Nawa Cita President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla in building Indonesia from the outskirts and Eastern Indonesia.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said infrastructure development is one of the priorities of national development. "The goal is to support economic growth and equitable development outcomes," said Minister Basuki some time ago.
Until now its progress along 640 km or 70% of 914 Km can be functional with partially asphalted condition and some are still pavement.
"We are targeting the end of 2019 Trans Maluku Road in Seram Island can be completely functional translucent. Next year will open the road to Air Nanang, so that access to port of port of Waisala and Nan Nan Water Port can be connected, "said Head of National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) XVI Ambon, Directorate General of Highways Satrio Sugeng Prayitno when reviewing the condition of trans road in Seram Island, on Saturday (2/6/2018).
According Satrio Sugeng, steady state of asphalt on the Port of Amahai to Saleman, but need to be careful because the segment is a vulnerable area of landslides. Saleman-Wahai Segment along 104 km and Saleman-Tamiwel to Piru along the 326 Km is also steady condition.
In the Saleman-Piru section, the construction of 9 bridges is still needed, in which next year two bridges will be built
Seram Island in the north of Ambon Island is one of the big islands in Maluku with an area of 18,625 km2. The road on the island was originally a local government road which was then proposed to the PUPR Ministry to become a national road. "Initially still a dirt road, we do handling because this road is the main path of society mobility. Handling is done in stages, "said Satrio.
In 2018, the budget for preservation and capacity building of national roads in Seram Island amounted to Rp 269 billion, which is used for routine maintenance of roads and bridges and road reconstruction along 20 km.
Trans Maluku Road is divided into several segments ranging from Amahai Harbor - Saleman along (84 Km), Saleman - Waisala (228 Km), Piru - Werinama (339 Km), and Saleman - Bula (263 Km).
Armin, one of the coastal communities in the West Seram region, said that it was helped by the construction of Trans Maluku road. Today, people feel the smooth development of roads.
"If the whole road is a dirt road and difficult to pass, now with the improvement, we feel the development of the economy is getting smoother," said Armin.
Seram Island is divided into 3 districts of Central Maluku Regency with the capital of Masohi, East Seram Regency with its capital Bula and Seram Barat with its capital Piru. The total population in Seram Island is about 1.5 million. The community of 3 regencies in Seram Island is dependent on their daily livelihoods as farmers and fishermen.
The resulting gardens and fishery are brought to the city. With the development of Trans Maluku road access, economic growth and access to transportation are better perceived.
