INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Indonesia must run five agendas after being elected UN Security Council (DK) non-permanent member for term of office 2019-2020.

"Indonesia managed to get 144 votes, while its rival Maldives only get 46 votes," said Professor of International Law University of Indonesia Hikmahanto Juwana in Jakarta, Friday (8/6/2018)

With 144 votes of Indonesia elected to the UN Security Council's non-permanent members at the UN General Assembly vote, Indonesia should as much as possible fight for five agendas as it begins to serve as a non-UN member on 1 January.

First, Hikmahanto said, Indonesia should be able to put the agenda related to world peace and security issues.

One is the effort to liberate Palestine and the protection of civilians in Palestine.

In addition, meetings Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un in Singapore in the near future should be observed because it is very influential on world peace and security.

Secondly, Indonesia should be able to bring up the regional agenda that has an impact on world peace and security.

"As an example of inter-state tensions in the South China Sea, protection of ethnic Rohingya and refugee problems from some Middle Eastern countries," he said.

Third, Indonesia raises the agenda related to the war against terrorists.

This is important because terrorists have changed their struggle against the things that smelled of the West, but have reached the effort to overthrow the legitimate government of some countries, even the effort to establish a new state.

"Fourth, Indonesia needs to discuss the recent phenomenon related to intolerance problem, intolerance has become an outbreak in many countries, including in developed countries though," he told media crew.

Finally, Indonesia needs to propose agendas related to economic, trade and investment issues that impact on world peace and security.

"The recent trade and tariff war between countries needs to be watched," he said.
