INDUSTRY.co.id -Jakarta - PT Pelindo I and PT Pelindo II cooperate in managing Batu Ampar Port through the signing of a memorandum of understanding by Pelindo II President Director Elvyn G Masassya and President Director of Pelindo I Bambang Eka Cahyana.
Elvyn said after the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Jakarta on Friday (8/6/2018) said the business cooperation is motivated by the desire to realize the business potential of providing port services with international standard by supporting the existing and captive market in Batam.
"This cooperation is the basis of agreement and commitment in the preparation of cooperation cooperation of Batu Ampar Port and its supporting areas in Batam," he said.
He said Pelindo II will provide tools, such as containers and cranes to support Batu Ampar Harbor operations.
Elvyn expects the collaboration between the two largest port managers in Indonesia to be accepted by BP Batam, so as to contribute positively to the development of ports in Batam, especially Batu Ampar Port, both in terms of management and business strategy in the future.
Batam as a very strategic location because it is located in international shipping lane with one of the busiest routes between the Malacca Strait and Singapore.
Batam has been developed over the years as an industrial park, "transhipment" and a tourism area where 90 percent of goods is confirmed through ports in Batam.
Elvyn added that the cooperation also affects the company's revenue because the throughput also increases.
"Good, there will be a throughput of` share of revenue from Pelindo I and II, "he said.
On the same occasion, President Director of Pelindo I Bambang Eka Cahyana to the media crew also hoped that with the cooperation cooperation, the capacity of Batu Ampar Port could increase from 450,000 TEUs to one million TEUs.

Bambang said the cooperation will start in August this year, especially for container loading and unloading activities.
