INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission I Abdul Kharis Almasyhari assess Indonesia was elected to become one of the non-permanent members of the UN Security Council (DK) is a form of confidence in countries around the world to Indonesia's contribution to maintain peace.

Indonesia was elected to become one of the non-permanent members of the UN Security Council at the UN General Assembly vote at UN headquarters in New York on Friday (8/6/2018). From the results of the vote, Indonesia received 144 votes from 193 UN member states.
"Congratulations to the Foreign Ministry Team, in particular the Foreign Minister and Ambassador Extraordinary Indonesia at the United Nations, who have worked smartly with high-level diplomacy in convincing friendly countries, to vote for Indonesia on behalf of the Asia Pacific Region, UN for the next two years, "explained Abdul Kharis.
The election of Indonesia as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council was announced by UN General Assembly President Miroslav Lacjak, in New York, United States, Friday (8/6). Indonesia has previously been a three-time member of the UN Security Council for the period 1973-1974, 1995-1996, and 2007-2008. For the fourth time, in the period 2019-2020 Indonesia will begin its task next January.
This member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the Prosperous Justice Party (FPKS) party confirmed that the election of Indonesia in the UN Security Council should be maximized to encourage the achievement of world peace and the liberation of Palestinian land from Israeli occupation, as well as the functions and authorities possessed by the UNSC.
"Indonesia as a UNSC Member may propose an international investigation team to investigate the situation or circumstances that threaten international peace and security related to Israel's actions against the Palestinian people of Gaza, which has caused a lot of casualties and continues to take place," he said.
Kharis also asserted that Indonesia as a member of the UNSC in order to continue to promote the independence of Palestine can be realized so that world peace and the region is created.
