INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Siemens signed more than 10 cooperation agreements with a number of partners from China to provide support and open opportunities for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Information received by INDUSTRY.co.id, Wednesday (13/6/2018) mentioned, Siemens International Belt and Road Summit held by Siemens was attended by more than 1000 leaders and executive representatives from government, business, investors, financial institutions and research institutions comes from more than 30 countries on different continents.

The cooperation was signed by a number of leading Chinese companies, such as China Gezhouba Group Corporation International Engineering Co., Ltd., Guangdong Yuedian Group Co., Ltd., China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation Ltd. (CNCEC), China Railway Construction Corporation (CCECC) and China Resources Cement Holdings Ltd., which is engaged in energy generation, energy management, technology development and intelligent manufacturing.

The targets of this partnership are several potential markets in various countries and continents such as Indonesia, Philippines, Nigeria, Mozambique and Latin America.

"As a reputable and trusted partner for China and its industry, we fully support the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and continue to take the lead in greater scale and scope," said Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG, who witnessed the signing at the International Belt and Road Summit in Beijing.

Kaeser added, BRI proved to be a good and strong initiative to accelerate infrastructure development in various participating countries.

"Siemens is also believed to help BRI succeed through our sophisticated portfolio of technologies, an in-depth understanding of the local market needs derived from its decades-long business track record in the market, as well as the ability to create local value for the local community," he said.

Siemens is one of the first global companies to cooperate with Chinese EPC companies in a "go-global" effort.

Meanwhile, Cedrik Neike, a member of the Siemens AG Management Council, said the main focus of BRI is infrastructure development and unifying the world. BRI becomes a unifying bridge of the world that connects not only the various communities, economic markets and cultures but also as a unifying bridge of physical infrastructure and the digital world.

"Siemens is the best infrastructure company to connect the two worlds and create a digital ecosystem. The vision of Siemens is to be able to jointly create a 'digital silk road', "Neike said.

Siemens is part of more than 100 leading Chinese EPC companies in more than 100 cities across the continent for more than two decades. For example, Siemens helped China Tianchen Engineering get the biggest project ever won by Chinese companies in Turkey.

The project is the construction of two of the world's largest soda ash companies, whose operations begin at the end of 2017, and successfully promote Turkish exports and open 2,000 new jobs.

Not only that, in September 2017, Siemens also supported China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) to enter the world's leading and most sophisticated gas energy market by winning the first EPC project for H-class gas power plant Punjab Power Plant Jhang in Pakistan. The new power plant is capable of providing power supplies to about 4 million households in Pakistan.

"By connecting various stakeholders at BRI, through the provision of innovation and digital technology and working closely with various partners from China, we support full and open international cooperation on an ongoing basis," said Lothar Herrmann, CEO of Siemens Greater China. Carsten Hasback, Head of Strategy and Business of Russia, will lead the BRI office in Beijing.
