Pelindo Supports Economic Cooperation with India

INDUSTRY.co.id - Banda Aceh- PT Pelindo I, a state-owned company that manages Malahayati Port, Krueng Raya, Aceh Besar, says it is ready to support Indonesia's economic and trade cooperation with India in Aceh province.
"We are ready to support Indonesia's economic cooperation with India in Aceh province, especially supporting sea transportation," said PT Pelindo I Jonedi Business Development PMO in Krueng Raya, Aceh Besar, Wednesday (11/7/2018).
The statement was made by Jonedi on the sidelines of accompanying the visit of the Nicobar Islands trade delegation to Malahayati Port. The visit of the trade delegation was accompanied by the Consulate General of the Indian Embassy in Medan Shalia Shah.
The visit is part of the India Investment Forum for Indonesia and India bilateral projects in the Indo Pacific working together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian Embassy.
Jonedi as reported by Antara mentions, Malahayati Port already has all the facilities. Among other warehouses, container lifting equipment, and others that support the export of imported goods.
With the facilities owned, he added, of PT Pelindo I as manager of Malahayati Port hopes that economic cooperation between Indonesia and India in Aceh Province will be realized as soon as possible.
Moreover, he said, the distance between India, especially the Nicobar Islands with Malahayati Port is not too far away. Thus, Malahayati Port can be the entrance of Indian goods to Indonesia and vice versa, from Indonesia to India.
"Of course, the cooperation of various sectors of the Aceh economy can be realized as soon as possible, with the realization of this cooperation also affecting the economy of the people of Aceh in general," said Jonedi.
General Manager of Malahayati Port Branch PT Pelindo I Sam Arifin said, from the visit of the Indian businessmen delegation revealed that there is a chance of export of cement from Aceh to the country.
"They mentioned that the demand for cement is high, which is the opportunity to export cement from Malahayati Port to the Nicobar Islands and other parts of India," said Sam Arifin.
Therefore, Sam Arifin expects the cement business in Aceh to capture this opportunity. If this opportunity can be realized it will certainly become the country's foreign exchange and improve the economy of the people of Aceh.
"We, as the transport operator of goods by sea, will surely support the export of cement to India," said Sam Arifin.
