INDUSTRY.co.id - Tangerang- Flight services at Malang and Banyuwangi airports continue to operate normally after the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale on Wednesday (08/08/2018) afternoon which shook the Southwest of Malang Regency.
Acting Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation M Pramintohadi Sukarno in a written statement in Tangerang, Thursday (08/08/2018) stated that the operation of the Abdul Rahman Saleh Airport in Malang was normal and there was no damage to its airport facilities.
Likewise Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi was not affected by the earthquake and airport facilities could still operate normally.
Praminto requested that flight services at the two airports must be carried out to the maximum extent possible by referring to the rules regarding flight safety and security.
"To the airport manager, the handling will be carried out as soon as possible if it is affected by the earthquake, so that the service to passengers continues to run smoothly and comfortably," he said.
Whereas for airlines, Praminto asks to always communicate with passengers and notify the latest flight operations from and to the area.
There is a possibility that many passengers cancel or change their flight schedules to and from the area. For this reason, the airline is asked to serve it well and perform services to the maximum extent possible to the passengers.
