Second Quarter 2018, Internet Growth of 339.8 Million Registered Domain Names

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN), a global leader in the domain name and internet security industry, announced that the second quarter of 2018 was closed with around 339.8 million domain name registrations in all top level domains (TLD).

This shows an increase of approximately six million domain names, or 1.8%, when compared to the first quarter of 2018 Domain name registrations grew by around 7.9 million, or 2.4 percent year on year.

The .com and .net TLDs have a combined total of around 149.7 million domain name registrations in the domain name base in the second quarter of 2018, with an increase of around 1.4 million domain name registrations or 0.9%, compared to the first quarter of 2018.

The .com and .net top-level domains (TLDs) have a combined increase of around 5.3 million domain name registrations, or 3.7%, year on year. As of June 30, 2018, the registered .com-based domain name reached 135.6 million, while the registered .net-based domain name reached 14.1 million.

The number of new .com and .net domain name registrations is around 9.6 million at the end of the second quarter of 2018, compared to 9.2 million domain name registrations in the second quarter of 2017.
