The Indonesian government has strongly criticized the missile tests by North Korea for passing through the airspace of other countries and endangering the flight path.
The Government of Indonesia affirms that the missile test measures are contrary to North Korea's obligations to the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, in particular resolutions 2270 (2016), 2321 (2016), 2356 (2017) and 2371 (2017).
To that end, Indonesia urges North Korea to fully fulfill its international obligations, including fully implementing UN Security Council resolutions.
Furthermore, the Government of Indonesia reaffirms that stability on the Korean peninsula is very important. Therefore, Indonesia invites all countries to contribute to the creation of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.
In addition, the Government of Indonesia encourages all parties to exercise restraint and not take any action that could add tension in the Korean Peninsula.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered more solid-fuel rocket engines in an effort to realize his nuclear and missile programs amid a dispute with the United States.
Earlier, Pyongyang's deputy ambassador to the UN told UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres that North Korea's nuclear weapons program could never be negotiated as long as "US hostile policies and nuclear threats continue".
