INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita stated that it will lower the highest retail price (HET) of medium quality rice previously set at Rp9.450 per kilogram.
The plan will be implemented next week, said Minister of Trade in Jakarta, Friday (1/6/2018)
According to him, rice supply is now ready and HET rice will be lowered to Rp8.900 per kilogram in the government's efforts to make rice prices more affordable to the public.
"The decline in HET rice will certainly benefit consumers by not harming farmers and traders," Enggatiasto said in a written statement.
Enggartiasto added, the purchase of grain and rice farmers by Bulog Perum will still be done according to Government Purchase Price (HPP). While the traders will still have benefit from the sale, only the chain or distribution lines are shortened.
Previously the government established HET for medium and premium quality rice commodities, in an effort to maintain public purchasing power and control the inflation rate. The rule comes into effect on September 1, 2017.
Determination of HET of medium quality rice, for the Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi for Rp9.450 per kilogram, and Rp12.800 for the premium type.
Sumatra region, excluding Lampung and South Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara and Kalimantan for medium quality rice Rp9.950 and premium 13,300 per kilogram.
