Information from BMKG Public Relations in Jakarta, Sunday (08/08/2018), said that the tsunami early warning ended at 20.25 WIB.

Previously, the BMKG issued a tsunami early warning after the 7.0 earthquake which shook NTB on Sunday at 18.46 WIB.

After the earthquake, BMKG detected a wave increase with a height of 0.135 m in Carik, North Lombok at 18:48 WIB and Badas, Sumbawa Regency with a height of 0.100 m at 18.54 WIB.

Previously, Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati also appealed to the community to stay away from the beach.

"Although the highest wave predictions are only half a meter, but we ask people to stay away from the beach and look for a much higher place. Try to stay calm and not panic," he said as quoted by Antara.

BMKG Head of Earthquake and Tsunami Center Rahmat Triyono, who was contacted before, stated that Lombok's status was "Alert" after the earthquake.

Alert status means the wave height is less than 50 cm. Although the tsunami early warning was declared over, BMKG continued to monitor developments and aftershocks.
