Indonesia Can Trust Increases World Peace

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - President Joko Widodo believes that Indonesia is trusted by the international community to help create world peace.
"The world's trust in Indonesia is increasing. This is evident from international trust in Indonesia to fight for Palestinian independence, encourage the peace process in Myanmar and Afghanistan and especially the election of Indonesia as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council," President Joko Widodo said at the Peace Preservation Mission Center. President Joko Widodo conveyed this when he released the Garuda contingent to depart as an Indonesian peacekeeping force to Congo and Lebanon.
Indonesia on 8 June 2018 was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council which will officially start its membership on 1 January 2019.
"For this reason I advise all of you, to the Garuda troops throughout the world, keep the good name of the nation, obey local laws and always follow the procedures that apply," said the President.
The President also advised to understand and respect the local culture, show professionalism, discipline, dedication and loyalty.
"Take care of the attitude and behavior of the brothers in interacting with the local community and the forces of other countries," said the President.
He hopes the Garuda contingent can carry out the mission with full responsibility and enthusiasm.
"The good name of the Indonesian people is in all of you. All of you are the best sons of the Indonesian people. Your steps, your breath, your actions are Indonesia. Your smile, your warmth, your firmness are Indonesia," added the President.
Not to forget the President asked that the troops not forget to return to Indonesia.
"You are the Garuda who flies to the land of people with their heads held high and proud for Indonesia, don't forget to go back to Indonesia with more experience and love for our country Indonesia. You are the inspiration for Indonesia's young generation who build nationalism in the sari garden of internationalism, "said the President.
The two troops departed were the Rapid Deployment Battalion (RDB) Garuda Contingent XXXIX-A Congo Task Force on the MONUSCO mission (The United Nations Organization for Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo) consisting of 850 TNI personnel including 22 female personnel)
The troops came from the Army (644), Navy (135) and the Air Force (71) who were dispatched by plane.
Then there is the task force of the Marine Task Force (MTF) for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the Garuda XXVIII-K Lebanon contingent totaling 120 personnel of the Navy. They will depart using KRI Sultan Hasanuddin who served in the Mediterranean Sea, replacing 120 previous personnel.
Also present at the release ceremony were TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Commander PMPP TNI Brigadier General Victor H. Simatupang, and Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Wiranto, Foreign Minister Retno L Marsudi, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and other officials.
