INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of Industry today held a 'Leather, Leather product, and Footwear Exhibition 2017' at the Industry Plasa of the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta.
The event which took place from November 7-10, 2017, was officially opened by the Head of Industrial Research and Development Agency (BPPI) of Kemenperin, Timur Ngakan Between carrying the theme of 'Local Goods for Lifestyle'.
"This exhibition is the most important event for industry players and the public at large regarding current trends in the global market," Ngakan said after opening the Leather, Leather, and Footwear Exhibition at the Industry Plaza of Kemenperin, Jakarta, Tuesday (7/11/2017 ).
He added that the creative footwear and leather industrial sector is growing rapidly, investment in the leather and leather and footwear industries this year has nearly quadrupled to Rp7.62 trillion.
In fact, based on trade map, export growth is positive from USD 4.85 billion in 2015 to USD 5.01 billion in 2016.
"Related to that there are three factors that encourage advanced industrial, namely technology, capital, and skills," said Ngakan.
Specific skills factor, continued Ngakan, the Ministry of Industry is preparing an industrial vocational education program to create a vocational workforce that links and matches with a competent and professional industry that will synergize with the footwear company.
"As a form of implementation, the Ministry of Industry has developed a program of development and linking between SMK and industry with target until 2019 as many as 1775 SMK includes 845 thousand Student for cooperation to 355 industrial companies," he said.
Furthermore, Ngakan hopes this exhibition can have a positive impact on the sustainability of his business, in order to support the growth of the creative industry sector and the national economy.
