The Chosen Vice Governor of DKI Sandiaga Uno Commit to Preserve Betawi Culture

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta – the chosen Vice Governor of DKI Jakarta Sandiaga Uno expressed his commitment to preserve Betawi cultural art, such as Pencak Silat Betawi.
This was conveyed while attending the Gebyar Betawi Pencak Silat Festival in Ulujami Child Friendly Integrated Public Room (RPTRA), Kebayoran lama, South Jakarta, Saturday (07/15/2017)
"There is already a legal product umbrella that can make Betawi culture more prosperous, such as Governor Regulation No. 229. So that Pencak Silat is not far from Karate and Taekwondo even MMA," said Sandiaga.
With the Betawi Pencak Silat Festival, Sandiaga has a dream to make Betawi Pencak Silat as a martial art, popular like the MMA (Mixed Martial Art) sport.
"We have a program that can lift Betawi culture, as well as host it in its own village One of our ideas is how to realize the museum of Benjamin Sueb," said Sandiaga.
According to him, realizing the museum not only raised the noble values of Betawi, but also the values of Indonesian national customs in diversity. Betawi culture is a combination of many ethnic and cultural entrants in Jakarta.
"We can see the influence of mainland China affecting the ornaments of his clothes, we can also find a common thread of the Middle East, Java, and Sunda," said Sandiaga.
He added Betawi is a diversity store that exist in the capital, so it should be preserved by its citizens. Betawi symbol of diversity is very crucial in Jakarta today, especially during the elections.
