INDUSTRY.co.id - Tomohon - PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) Lahendong Area, North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) continues to seek new sources that enable geothermal energy in the Lahendong Geothermal Working Area (WKP), General Manager Salvius Patangke said Monday (22 / 218).
"To ensure the potential of geothermal energy, Pertamina's exploration team continues to conduct geological, geochemical and geophysical surveys," said Salvius in Tomohon.
Efforts to find new wells, he continued, continue to be done to maintain and ensure production does not decrease.
Currently, PGE Lahendong Area will be developing seven and eight units in the Lahendong and Tompaso blocks.
These two units are expected to produce 2X20 megawatts, bringing the total total capable of producing 8X20 megawatts.
"It is optimized for 6X20 megawatts, 4X20 from the Lahendong block and 2X20 from the Tompaso block," he said.
He added that until now the average produced in each unit of 2X20 megawatts, unlike in Kamojang and Star Energy in West Java and Lampung that can be optimized to above 100 megawatts.
"Why is that because the electricity demand in the area is relatively slow so Pertamina does not build a bigger electricity system," he said.
He hopes, in addition to the Lahendong and Tompaso blocks, there are also geothermal energy sources that can be developed economically.
