INDUSTRY.co.id - Gunung Sitoli - The Nias Islands Community asked the North Sumatran Governor (Cagub) Djarot Saiful Hidayat to give attention to the people of the archipelago.
The hope was conveyed by Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan Kota Gunung Sitoli Yanto in the Special Rakyat of PDI Perjuangan Gunung Sitoli on Wednesday in Gunung Sitoli.
So far, Yanto said, people in the Nias Islands feel always "step child" by the North Sumatra Provincial Government in the development program run.
The assessment can be seen from the allocation of provincial financial aid received by archipelago areas consisting of Nias Regency, West Nias Regency, North Nias Regency, South Nias Regency and Gunung Sitoli City.
From the North Sumatra Provincial Government's APBD which reached Rp12 trillion more, the provincial financial assistance provided to the Nias Islands is only around Rp79 billion for one year.
"The amount is very small, only Rp79 billion, it must be divided into five (districts / cities) .Therefore, development is not felt in Nias Islands," he said.
Due to the hope of change, the people of the Nias Islands gave full support to Djarot Saiful Hidayat-Sihar Sitorus in the 2018 gubernatorial election.
"It is because of the belief that Nias Islands, especially Gunung Sitoli can be more advanced if the government in North Sumatra led by Mr. Djarot Saiful Hidayat," said Yanto.
In addition, he said, the people of Nias Islands also hoped that Djarot Saiful Hidayat could support the expansion and establishment of Nias Province so that the area could grow.
Responding to the grievances and hopes, North Sumatra Governor candidate Djarot Saiful Hidayat admitted to implement development that adheres to the principle of justice and equity.
Personally, the former Blitar Mayor and former Governor of DKI Jakarta are concerned with developments in the Nias Islands, especially in infrastructure.
