INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Special Unit for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) mentioned that there are about 74 oil and gas reserves that have the potential to contain oil content that has not been explored until now.
Secretary of SKK Migas Arief S Handoko revealed from 128 basins, as many as 74 basins until now still not done exploration for later use of oil and gas results.
"This is an opportunity for the upstream industry to run the exploration," said Arief in Jakarta, Monday (16/4/2018). "The opportunity is quite large because there are 74 basins (basins) not yet explored.
Therefore, SKK Migas is encouraging exploration activities in 74 basins with ease of licensing for interested business entities. Then when permits are obtained, land acquisition that has the potential to have oil and gas reserves must be guaranteed to run smoothly.
"The message of the Jokowi government is that licensing should be cut, all obstacles must be eliminated," he said.
Arief said the oil and gas productivity of Indonesia from year to year decreased. Now Indonesia can only produce 800 thousand barrels of crude oil per day. Whereas in 1974 and then, Indonesia is able to produce 1.7 million barrels of crude oil per day.
"We have a big gap, and in March 2018 we still have a gap where our production that once reached 1.7 million barrels per day approximately in 1974 and then down now only up to 800 thousand barrels. In terms of consumption, our consumption goes up," he said.
