Prone to Fraud, OJK Asks People to Carefully Choose a Pawn Company

OJK - Jakarta- Every day before Eid celebration, people usually travel to pawn companies. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) also expects people to be more careful in choosing a pawnshop.

Deputy Commissioner of Non-Bank Financial Industry (IKNB) OJK Muhammad Ichsanuddin appealed to the public not to be deceived, they must use the services of registered pawn companies and obtain official permission from OJK. At least, there are 24 companies that fall into that category.

"The public can pledge goods in 24 licensed pawn companies registered in OJK," he said at OJK Head Office, Jakarta.

As of 24 pawn companies, "he said, there are 14 companies that have been officially registered. While the remaining 10 have obtained official permission from OJK. "So people can be more secure to mortgage goods," he explained.

Based on data from OJK, he mentioned that 14 listed companies consist of KSP Mandiri Sejahtera Abadi (Semarang), KSU Dana Usaha (Semarang), PT Mitra Kita (Semarang), UD Iljab (Semarang), PT Mas Agung Sejahtera (Jakarta ), and PT Surya Pilar Kencana (Jakarta), PT Svaraputra Penjuru Vijaya (Tangerang), and PT Pusat Gadai Indonesia (Jakarta).

Then PT Persada Arihta Mandiri (Medan), Pawn Solutions (Jakarta), CV Soverino Ekasakti (Semarang), CV Prima Perkasa (Semarang), Gadai Murah Jogja (Yogyakarta), and PT Awi Gadai Jogja (Yogyakarta).

While 10 private pawnshops that already have permits are PT Pegadaian (Jakarta), PT HBD Gadai Nusantara (Jakarta), PT Gadai Pinjam Indonesia (Jakarta), PT Sarana Gadai Prioritas (Jakarta), PT Mitra Gadai Sejahtera Kepri (Riau Islands), and PT Sili Gadai Nusantara (Surabaya).

"Then, PT West Java Gadai Sejati (Bekasi), PT Pergadaian Dana Sentosa (Yogyakarta), PT Sahabat Gadai Sejati (Bandung), and PT Jasa Gadai Syariah (Bekasi)," he said
