INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Sharia mutual fund product performance generally posted positive growth amid the weakening of the mutual fund industry due to volatility in financial markets in Indonesia.
Data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) throughout January to July 2018 noted that Islamic mutual fund products had a total managed fund (NAV) of Rp 32.67 trillion or around 6.62% of the total managed funds of mutual funds (NAV) of 493.41 trillion. This increased compared to the total managed funds (NAV) of sharia mutual funds in 2017 of Rp. 28.31 trillion or 6.19% of the total managed mutual funds (NAV) in 2017 of Rp. 457.50 trillion.
According to Edward Lubis, President Director of PT Bahana TCW Investment Management, the performance of sharia mutual fund products remains positive driven by increasing public awareness and knowledge of halal investment products.
Not only that, the current global economic conditions have triggered an increase in domestic interest rates, while the bond market and stock market fluctuate quite high. This makes money market-based Islamic mutual fund products more attractive than conventional bond-based and stock markets.
Meanwhile, one of Bahana's mutual fund products, namely Mutana Mutual Funds Syariah (BLS) received an award from Investor Magazine as "Best Syariah 2018" from the Best Sharia Mutual Fund category on Thursday (23/8).
"Amid uncertainty in the global economic conditions, investors prefer to invest in mutual fund products that provide certainty of returns and in the short term. This is what makes Bahana Liquid Syariah Mutual Fund products get the trust of short-term investors, "said Edward Lubis, President Director of Bahana TCW Investment Management in a press release, Monday (27/08).
Bahana Likuid Syariah (BLS) mutual funds invest in money market instruments and / or sukuk instruments whose maturity is not more than 1 year. This mutual fund is very suitable for investors with a conservative risk profile and requires liquidity
Since its launch on January 14, 2015 until now, the total amount of BLS managed funds has reached Rp 249.68 billion. Meanwhile, the return alias return given by BLS mutual funds amounted to 5.26% for one year or 23.84% since it was launched. Meanwhile, several securities in the BLS portfolio include Islamic deposits from Panin Syariah Bank, Bukopin Syariah, BJB sharia, Bank Victoria Syariah, BPD Riau Sharia Law.
