INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas Bambang Brodjonegoro said the loan from the Chinese bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), would be focused on financing rail or rail-based mass public transport projects as well as renewable energy.
According to him, big cities need efficient mass transportation to support community activities in the city and that is the concern of the government.
"What I have to say is only in big cities, big cities that are in need. We have a 'list', but we have to talk technically. However, most importantly we convey, AIIB for the context of loans is 'government', only focusing on which is the government's needs and priorities, "Bambang said after meeting with AIIB President Jin Liqun at the Bappenas Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (08/29/2018)
Meanwhile, for renewable energy infrastructure development projects, Bambang said the AIIB loan could be used for all types of renewable energy but still had to look at the needs in the country.
"All. Of course, we must also see that which is our priority. Our priorities are still three big, namely hydro, geothermal, and bio-energy," he said.
Nevertheless, in addition to the two projects, the government did not rule out the possibility of financing from AIIB for other infrastructure projects such as road repairs or arterial road construction in the area, construction of airports, ports and power plants.
Bambang said that the meeting with the President of AIIB would be followed up with a technical meeting discussing infrastructure projects to be financed by AIIB. The list of projects that are ready to be offered to AIIB is targeted for completion by the end of this year.
"So we have a list and list that will be announced with them because they have to agree on what type of project they can 'support' because the requirements of them are only one, yes we submit the proposal and the amendment is complete and there are no issues regarding the relocation of the population "So social and environmental problems must be clean," said Bambang.
So far, there are four infrastructure projects in Indonesia financed by AIIB. First, the modernization of strategic irrigation and rehabilitation projects is urging to increase the irigas system in Indonesia so that it can produce larger quantities of US $ 250 million.
Secondly, the dam operational and safety improvement project to improve the lives of people who live downstream of the dam and protect local infrastructure worth 125 million US dollars.
Third, a regional infrastructure development project worth US $ 100 million and a fourth, a project to increase the slum area of US $ 216.5 million.
