The Siti Nurbaya Bridge - JAKARTA, 13 March 2023 – PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia), Dulux paint manufacturer, continues to make positive impacts and inspire the lives of people in local communities by adding colours to people’s lives.

Through the Let’s Colour project in Padang, the power of paint can transform lives by uplifting communities, changing behaviour and making living spaces more fun, livable and enjoyable.

By repainting Padang Old Town, which was completed last year in November, and adding colors to the Siti Nurbaya Bridge, the transformation of Padang City through this Let's Color project has had real positive effects on society in Padang. This generated more smiles for people in Padang, provided more opportunities for local business owners surrounding the two iconic tourist destinations and offered chances to learn more about local heritage for domestic and foreign tourists visiting Padang.

The completion of the Let's Colour project in Padang project has been documented visually and posted on Let's Colour: Padang (West Sumatra, Indonesia) - YouTube, describing clearly the impact of the project that has been elevating the society in Padang.

Recently, AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia also shared the story about Let's Colour project in Padang as well as about the ongoing Let's Colour project in Suryatmajan, Yogyakarta with Mr. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Republic of Indonesia, when the management of PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia) held an audience and discussed how the company can contribute to improving Indonesia's tourism program.

Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A, M.B.A, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, said, "Tourism development does require cooperation with stakeholders, such as the private sector which helps beautify Indonesian tourist areas through color. One of the tourist areas that is being stimulated by the Ministry of Tourism is the Tourism Villages. Tourist villages have an important role, one of which is spurring the potential for the growth of the creative economy in the local environment, as well as providing employment opportunities for residents close to tourist sites. Therefore, if thousands of tourist villages in Indonesia can be beautified with attractive colours, more and more foreign and domestic tourists will be interested in visiting."

The transformation of Padang is real through the Let’s Colour project that has been completed in Padang. Improving the tourism sector and attracting foreign and domestic tourists to the city of Padang also gives hope to the people of Padang.

Hendri Septa, B. Bus. (Acc), M.I.B, Padang Mayor, said, “The repainting program has transformed Padang City. Especially in the Old Town area, buildings that were dull, now they are much more "alive" and attractive for people to see. After repainting the Old City of Padang and giving color to the Siti Nurbaya Bridge through Let’s Colour program in partnership with PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia), we see the positive impact on the society, the local economy and the tourism sector. Colors can affect people’s mood and add beauty to Padang City. Another positive result of Let’s Colour Project in Padang is local economy growth due to a chain effect of an increase in the tourism sector in Padang. With the repainted Padang Old Town and Siti Nurbaya Bridge, Padang City is ready to support Visit Beautiful West Sumatra 2023 Program.”

Alam Gunawan, Head of BakCangk Community and Head of Micro Entrepreneurship Volunteer, said, “Padang Old Town and Siti Nurbaya Bridge have been popular tourist destinations in Padang. The beautification of these two tourist icons in Padang has attracted more and more tourists to this city. With

the refreshed look of Padang Old Town and colorful Siti Nurbaya Bridge with lights decoration at night, tourism communities in Padang are ready to support the city government in holding a big tourism festival which will be held in the two tourism landmarks in Padang.”

Yudhy Aryanto, Country Commercial Head of PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia), said, “The Let’s Colour initiative is all about adding colors to people's lives around the globe, carrying out thousands of colourful projects, all in the name of using the positive power of paint to transform people’s lives, spaces and communities. We are glad to see the positive impacts of our Let’s Colour Project in Padang to help the society in Padang and Padang City Government. We are also excited that Padang City Government is enthusiastic to promote its tourism sector supported by our innovative, sustainable and durable paints applied in Padang Old Town and Siti Nurbaya Bridge.”

Repainting of Padang Old Town and adding colors to Siti Nurbaya Bridge, which were completed in November 2022, is one of the latest Let’s Colour projects in Indonesia. Since 2016, several projects happened, including in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Palembang, Salatiga and Yogyakarta.
