INDUSTRY.co.id - Jepara - 4x1.000 MW Java Steam Power Plant (PLTU) in Jepara Regency, Central Java, has an investment value of 4.2 billion US dollars.
"PLTU Java 4 was built by a consortium of PT Bhumi Jati Power (BJP), the financing of this project is funded through loans from Japan Bank for International Cooperation and syndication of seven commercial banks," said Head of PT PLN Corporate Communications Unit I Made Suprateka yesterday.
In a meeting in Jepara on Thursday, he further explained that the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (IEMASI) Jonan immediately inaugurated the construction (ground breaking) of Java Steam Power Plant (PLTU) 4.
PLTU Java 4 was built using the latest technology that is ultra-super critical (USC). This technology operates at pressures and temperatures above the critical point of water, where the gas and liquid phases are in balance so as to produce higher efficiency.
The USC power plant has an efficiency of about 8 percent to 10 percent compared to other coal-based power plants. This is because coal consumption is less and produces lower exhaust emissions.
Project Tanjung Jati B (Java 4) has an investment value of 4.2 billion US dollars. The power plant project is managed by a consortium of PT Bhumi Jati Power (BJP), which consists of Sumitomo Corporation (50 percent), PT United Tractors TBK (25 percent) and The Kansai Electric Power Co (25 percent).
The construction of PLTU Java 4 uses BOT (build operate and transfer) scheme with a period of 25 years from "commercial operation date".
This development is expected to add and strengthen the electricity system in Java-Bali. Java 4 is built on an area of 77.4 ha; the project is targeted to be completed within 50 months to 54 months starting from April 2017, and is expected to operate in May 2021 and September 2021.
