INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Chief Executive of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) Tulus Abadi said the auto toll gate (GTO) which requires toll road users to pay using electronic money does not reduce congestion on the highway.

"The cause of congestion on the highway is the high volume of vehicles. Therefore, GTO and electronic money obligations are not useful to reduce congestion," said Tulus in Jakarta, Friday (22/09/2017)

Tulus said it has started to accept GTO complaints getting stuck after toll road users are required to use electronic money to pay tolls.

According to Tulus, Jasa Marga as a toll road manager has misplaced information and socialization to the community that GTO will be able to reduce congestion.

"Actually, our electronic toll road has been left behind compared to other countries," he said.

By comparison of the number of roads and vehicles, Tulus says GTO and electronic money will not be effective to reduce congestion. Therefore, no refill of electronic money should be charged.

"Consumers of toll roads do not feel more value than the use of electronic money, but they are charged." Electronic toll policy is more beneficial to toll road and banking managers," he said.

Tulus said before the use of GTO and electronic money, toll road managers must provide change at every toll gate of little value. It will not happen again with the use of electronic money.
