INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla held a coordination meeting with ministers in the field of economy at the Vice President's Palace Jakarta, Friday (9/2/2018) to increase investment and exports in Indonesia.
The closed-door meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Head of BKPM Thomas Lembong.
Chairman of the Vice Presidential Team Sofyan Wanandi told media crews at the meeting. The vice president urged ministers to seriously identify issues that have hampered Indonesia's investment and exports of commodities.
"Now we are looking for a way and really looking for that can accelerate us, restore why now our investment is declining, exports are declining, what we should do. That was discussed all sorts of problems," said Sofyan after a meeting at the Vice Presidential Palace Jakarta.
Kalla's vice president gave homework to ministers in the economic field to be completed within two weeks to identify problems inhibiting investment and exports.
"In these two weeks the ministers will announce several significant ones, so the possibilities we can do will soon be so that there will be short term, medium term and long term," explained Sofyan.
The coordination meeting was a follow up meeting of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla a few days ago at the Vice President's Office in Jakarta. One of them, the President asked the Vice President to resolve the issue of investment in Indonesia.
"The president asked me to overcome it, therefore the President asked all the ministries to study it," said Vice President Kalla.
The President himself said efforts to increase investment and exports are key to boosting economic growth in Indonesia.
"Especially with regard to investment, raising investment, the second is increasing export, because our economic key is in those two things," said the President.
