Disburse Trillions of Rupiah, Government Make Flores Geothermal Island

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government set the island of Flores as a geothermal island. The stipulation is set forth in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources number 2268 K / 30 / MEM / 2017 on Stipulation of Flores Island as Geothermal Island on 19 June 2017.

"We want to aspire to make Flores a pilot island whose overall energy will someday come from renewable energy, in this case is geothermal," said Director General of New Energy, Renewable and Energy Conversion (EBTKE) Rida Mulyana at a Heat convention Earth International (IIGCE 2017) to-5, at JCC, Senayan recently.

Although not mentioned in detail when the construction will be implemented, Rida said, so far the launch has been done. One of the geothermal projects is also mentioned named Waisano.

He said that the utilization of geothermal energy as a source of energy will take funds from the State Budget (APBN) of Rp 3 trillion and assistance from World Bank (World Bank) for US $ 55.25 million.

"This project (will) use the fund which was named geothermal fund which was announced the MoU between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with Rp 3 trillion from the State Budget and US $ 55.25 million from Wolrd Bank," he said.

The fund, said Rida, will be used to mitigate exploration so as to attract inward investment. Once the investment goes in, the developer will pay for the exploration cost. Furthermore, the funds paid will be used for exploration in other areas.

As is known, in the 5th Conference and Exhibition of Geothermal, submitted by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree (SK) to the Governor of NTT regarding the establishment of Flores Island as Geothermal Island.
