INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta -ABB (ABBN: SIX Swiss Ex) wins the provision of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to PLN which is a state-owned electricity company.
GIS ensures reliable stability of power supply and can be operated safely in enclosed spaces and challenging environments, controlling the network and providing protection against power outages.
As a country with the largest economy in Southeast Asia, electricity demand in Indonesia continues to increase rapidly. The Government of Indonesia has targeted all households connected to the national power grid by 2025 and launched a 35,000 Megawatt (MW) electrical capacity addition program.
"We are delighted to be able to support the Government and PLN in strengthening the network and providing reliable power supply to meet the increasing national electricity demand," said Claudio Facchin, President of Power Grids Division at ABB through the official entry received by INDUSTRY.co.id on Monday (14/5). / 2018).
In this project, ABB will design, supply and perform the final 150 kilo Volt (kV) GIS test for 10 substations in some areas of Jabodetabek, West Java, East Java and Sulawesi.
ABB GIS technology is designed to improve the reliability of power grids that allow space savings of up to 90 percent compared to conventional air insulation switchgear.
GIS ABB enables substations built in urban areas that generally have limited availability of land and high land prices, as well as to help maintain the aesthetic spatial city.
"ABB is committed to continuously help provide the best technology and strengthen our presence in Indonesia as part of ABB's Next Level strategy," Facchin concluded.
ABB has pioneered GIS technology since 50 years ago and will continue to innovate. As a market leader and high voltage GIS technology, ABB offers GIS 72.5 kV up to 1200 kV usage quality, with over 3000 mounting points worldwide. The latest ABB GIS offerings include eco-efficiency and digital capabilities.
ABB is a pioneer in the field of technology especially for electrification, robotics, industrial automation and power grids, which also serve various business partners in the sector of utilities, industry, transportation and infrastructure globally.
Committed to continuing innovation for more than 130 years, ABB is now carving out the future with the digitalization of the industry that puts forward two principles: distributing electricity from upstream to downstream and industrial automation.
Now as a sponsor of Formula E, the international championship event for
electric car FIA class motorsport, ABB helped encourage the development of electric cars to continue to contribute in creating a sustainable future. ABB operates in over 100 countries with approximately 135,000 employees.
