INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation predicts more than 20 million people will be going home in 2018. The number of travelers through air transportation reaches 8 million people, the land route of about 7 million people and the sea lane of about 1.5 million travelers.
"We estimate there are more than 20 million travelers in Lebaran 2018. Air traffic travelers are estimated there are eight million travelers, land routes of about seven to eight million travelers, sea lane around 1.5 million travelers," said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi when checking readiness the flow of homecoming in Tugu Station, Yogyakarta in a press release at the weekend.
He detailed that there are about 6 million travelers who use the railway journey. This figure, he said, increased 5 percent over the previous year.
He added that his side appealed to the travelers of land users so that not all of them use toll roads. Minister Budi Karya suggested that travelers by land can also use the southern route of Java.
In addition, Minister Budi Karya also suggested that travelers do not use motorcycles. He recommends using buses and trains.
"We urge people not to go home using motorcycles, because 70 percent of accidents in the last two years are dominated by motor," he explained.
Minister Budi Karya added that his side also asked awareness of land transportation organizations (Organda) and land transportation entrepreneurs in order to ensure the fleet's goodness.
"The bus or the car should have a ramp check, no ramp check, no ramp check, vehicles are very risky, so it's a must," he concluded.
