“During the implementation of mudik ban policy, all transportation modes will be prohibited to facilitate mudik activities,” the spokesperson of Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati said in Jakarta, Wednesday (05/05).

Adita also said that Regulation of Minister of Transportation Number 13 of 2021 on Transportation  Control During Eid Al-Fitr 1442 Hijri for Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 stipulates that transportation modes may operate to serve non-mudik purposes, including business travel, having an ill family member, death of a family member, being pregnant (accompanied by one family member), childbirth (accompanied by a maximum of two people), emergency health services and other non-mudik purposes.

“Logistics transport, including for basic necessities, essential goods for economic activities, medicines, and medical equipment, will also operate normally,” she said.

Adita went on to say that transportation modes will also continue to operate on a limited basis serving agglomeration areas, namely in Medan, Binjai, Deli, Serdang, and Karo (Mebidangro); Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek); greater Bandung area; Kendal, Demak, Ungaran, Salatiga, Semarang, and Purwodadi (Kedungsepur); greater Jogja area; greater Solo area; Gresik, Bangkalan, Mojokerto, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Lamongan (Gerbangkertosusila), and Makassar, Sungguminasa, Takalar, and Maros (Maminasata).

She further said that before the implementation of the mudik band policy, Ministry of Transportation has taken several measures to ensure state apparatus on the ground are ready. The measures include coordination meetings with regional heads whose regions are the main destination for mudik activities, namely Governor of Central Java, Governor of West Java, Governor of Lampung, Governor of East Java, and Governor of Banten.

Adita also said that Ministry of Transportation also continues to actively disseminate the policy on transportation control through various media channels, especially on social media.

Ministry of Transportation also continues to appeal to the public to avoid mudik activities and to maintain self-discipline in following health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission in Indonesia.
