INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - G-SHOCK collaborated with Darbotz, a mural and graffiti artist in Indonesia. Darbotz is known as an artist who did not sign his work like other graffiti artists but with a picture of "squid" which is his alter ego in dealing with the complexity of everyday Jakarta.
100 pieces of DW-5600BB series watches with a specially designed strap by Darbotz have been traded in Indonesia since June 2018.
G-SHOCK has collaborated with dozens of foreign artists, but in 2018, for the Indonesian market, G-SHOCK dropped the choice of collaborating with Darbotz.
In the Gentleman's Pact series in the Kemang area, Jakarta, Saturday (8/9/2018) in a talk show that discussed how an international trademark could be interested in collaborating with the National Artists, CASIO revealed the reason.
"We like the consistency that Darbotz has shown for dozens of years in developing graffiti and mural arts. "Monsterball, which is also the hallmark of Darbotz, we feel is very suitable to be paired with the art side of G-SHOCK," said Riry Silalahi, Marketing & Communication Manager, Casio Singapore Pte., Ltd., Jakarta Representative Office.
"It's different from the others, very stand out, and has a very strong character," he continued. The Darbotz design on the DW-5600BB series is located on the band strap and the back of the clock that puts forward the monsterball icon.
In addition to Casio's representatives, the representatives of Never Too Lavish, an incubator for Indonesian artists, also attended the talk show. This talk show discusses how an international trademark can be interested in collaborating with National artists.
"The collaboration with G-SHOCK is one of my check lists. So, when Casio offers collaboration opportunities, don't use it anymore, "said Darbotz.
G-SHOCK x Darbotz is priced at IDR 2,799,000 in Casio official stores throughout Indonesia. Now this very limited number of watches is produced with only a few pieces.
