Meeting with the President of JAPINDA, President Jokowi Appreciates the Assistance to Promote Economic Cooperation

INDUSTRY co.idIndonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with the President of the Japan-Indonesia Association (JAPINDA), Fukuda Yasuo, at the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, Japan, on Monday (18/12/2023).

During the meeting, the Head of State appreciated JAPINDA which was considered to have helped a lot in promoting cooperation in the economic sector.

"I appreciate JAPINDA which has helped a lot in promoting economic cooperation, mentoring Japanese companies who want to expand their business in Indonesia," said the President.

The President hopes that JAPINDA can continue to support increased investment and technology transfer in future economic sectors such as the energy transition and also the digital economy.

Not only that, JAPINDA's support is also expected to help improve the quality of human resources in the country.

"So that more Indonesian skilled workers can enter Japan," said the President.

Finally, the President hopes that business actors in Japan can also take advantage of various new agreements within the IJEPA framework. Starting from eliminating tariffs on Indonesian processed fish products to expanding banking market access.

"I am sure that with concrete support from JAPINDA the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and Japan will become closer and more sustainable," said the President.

Accompanying the President at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi, and Director General of Asia Pacific and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani.(BPMI SETPRES/AIT)
