INDUSTRY.co.id - The Government through Ministry of Transportation launched an integrated coordination post to monitor transportation control following mudik (annual exodus ahead of Eid-al-Fitr) ban.

The monitoring will be carried out during the mudik ban period on 6 – 24 May 2021. Unlike the condition before the pandemic that the post was established to secure the mobility of the people during mudik, this year’s post is established to monitor and enhance coordination among teams in enforcing roadblocks during the mudik ban period.

“This is our effort to monitor transportation control in order to follow up the policy to prohibit the operation of transportation for mudik purposes which takes effect starting today,” Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said during the launching of integrated transport control post, on Thursday (6/5).

He went on to say that the Ministry of Transportation as the coordinator of transportation control will ensure intensive coordination with related sides, as well as conduct evaluation and onsite inspection to support the mudik ban policy.

The integrated transport control post which is headquartered in the office of Transportation Ministry involves the National Police, Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Search and Rescue Agency, the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), state-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, state-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga, state-owned insurance firm Jasa Raharja, and other related institutions.

The post will monitor mobility and traffic flow in 48 bus terminals, 16 ferry ports, 50 airports, 51 seaports, 9 railway operational regions, and 4 railway regional divisions, as well as a number of national roads, toll roads, and non-toll roads.
