Enhancing Religious Moderation, Indonesia and Pakistan Hold Interfaith Dialogue
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Indonesia - As part of Indonesia's effort and contribution to creating "harmony among civilizations," Indonesia organized the Indonesia-Pakistan Interfaith Dialogue (30/11) in Jakarta. This event marked the second time, with the previous one taking place in 2012. The Indonesia-Pakistan Interfaith Dialogue adopted the theme "Enhancing Religious Moderation and Interfaith Dialogue."
The delegation from the Pakistan Interfaith Dialogue, led by the Chairman of Rahmatulil Aalamin Authority, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Nadeem, expressed their interest in understanding how Indonesia accommodates its multicultural society while upholding Islamic values. The Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, welcomed Pakistan's intention to learn about religious moderation from Indonesia.
"In addition to having similar characteristics in terms of a majority Muslim population and adopting a democratic system, both countries also have a record of excellent bilateral relations for 73 years of diplomatic ties," added Siti Nugraha Mauludiah.
The interfaith dialogue was attended by 14 delegates from Pakistan, including religious scholars. The event involved various stakeholders such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Santri Diplomacy Academy, and the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI).
This Indonesia-Pakistan Interfaith Dialogue is the second of its kind after the previous one in 2012 with the theme "empowering the moderates." The Pakistani delegation will stay in Indonesia until December 4, 2023, holding meetings with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, religious organizations, and think tanks.
