From Cape Town to Nordkapp, Indonesian Explorer Sets Off on Expedition Promoting Indonesia
INDUSTRY.co.id - Cape Town, South Africa - Balines globetrotter, Ida Bagus (IB) Ngurah Wijaya has once again set off on an adventure by riding a motorbike from Cape Town to Nordkapp (06/12). On this trip, IB Ngurah Wijaya wanted to see the red and white banner on his motorcycle respected and recognized by people along the way.
The explorer hopes that his journey can lure local residents who pass by to visit Indonesia and support the economy of the surrounding community. IB Ngurah Wijaya chose Cape Town as the starting point of his trip this time because it was considered to have great potential to trigger tourist interest from Cape Town residents to Indonesia.
Responding to Mr. Ngurah's statement, the Indonesian Consul General said the choice of Cape Town as the starting point for the trip was very appropriate, because South Africa, especially the people of Cape Town and its surroundings, has historical and cultural closeness with Indonesia.
The Indonesian Consul General also said that Denpasar and Mossel Bay have Sister City cooperation. In a meeting with Mossel Bay Mayor last November, Alderman Mayor Dirk Kotze expected the Indonesian Consulate General to organize an Indonesian Folk Market there, such as the one held in Cape Town on October 14 which was attended by 4,695 visitors. Welcoming the invitation, the Indonesian Consul General plans to hold the Indonesian Folk Market in Mossel Bay in April 2024.
The Indonesian Consul General hopes that the Denpasar City Government and Bali Regional Government can participate in the event by sending cultural and artistic missions. This will be one of the tangible manifestations of Sister City's follow-up cooperation. The event is also part of the 30th anniversary of Indonesia-South Africa diplomatic relations in 2024.
IB Ngurah Wijaya who has served as Chairman of the Bali Tourism Board for 3 periods is very excited to facilitate the support of the Denpasar City Government and Bali Regional Government in supporting the Indonesian Folk Market in Mossel Bay.
