INDUSTRY.co.id - Manado - The Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Bitung North Sulawesi Province (North Sulawesi) is confirmed to be operational by December 2017. The fishery, coconut, pharmaceutical and logistics processing industries are the four sectors that are the motor of the region.

"It is certain that at the end of the year KEK Bitung will start operating," said Head of Industry and Trade Office of North Sulawesi Jenny Karouw in Manado on Thursday (19/10/2017)

Jenny said that nowadays all administrative is complete waiting for partners who will manage the Bitung KEK.

He said the state-owned enterprise (BUMD) PT Membangun Sulawesi Utara is ready.

KEK Bitung has acquired a land area of ​​93.4 hectares. The amount of land already cleared is sufficient for the initial development stage, in the master plan requires a land area of ​​534 hectares.

The development of KEK Bitung is included in government infrastructure projects as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 3 of 2016 and Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2016 on the Acceleration of the Implementation of National Strategic Projects.

KEK Bitung is estimated to be investing Rp2.3 trillion for the development of the region. KEK Bitung is also expected to attract investment up to Rp32, 89 trillion up to 2025.

North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey continues to look for investors to be able to develop KEK Bitung because the impact to the economy is quite high.

Currently there are many investors from China who want to invest in KEK Bitung, also from several other countries.

"But the government of North Sulawesi wants to have an official recommendation from the local state government," said Jenny.
