Increase Fishermen's Welfare, Sultra Build Fish Freezing Factory
INDUSTRY.co.id - Kendari - Southeast Sulawesi province (Sultra) encourages the development of fisheries sector so that the results can improve the welfare of local fishermen by building a fish freezing plant.
Head of the Department of Marine and Fisheries of Southeast Sulawesi, Askabul Kijo said, one of the facilities built freezing and cooling fish in Konawe North District.
"Refrigeration and freezing fish or often desert Coldstorage Factory is the source of funds from the state budget through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries RI," he said in Kendari last weekend.
He said the Coldstorage factory located in Muara Tinobu village, Lasolo sub-district spent Rp3 billion.
"The purpose of this plant is to preserve the fish catches of fishermen up to months, so it is not easily damaged and rotten and still has a good selling price in the market," he said.
According to him, the Coldstorage plant has a capacity of up to 100 tons of fish. "We hope that the factory can be utilized and maintained well by the surrounding community, so that it can gradually increase the economy in the fishery sector," he said.
