INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, PT Nusantara Pelabuhan Handal Tbk (PORT), a company focused on the port operator business as well as the procurement and maintenance of port equipment, projects that the Company's business until the end of the year is still in line with expectations and begins to develop strategies to achieve performance growth next year.
One of them is by looking for opportunities in the rejuvenation business and port equipment engineering services in Indonesia and other countries.
President Director of PORT, Paul Krisnadi, said, "We predict that there will be many challenges next year due to the ongoing port congestions around the world. To overcome this, PORT is exploring opportunities in the equipment rejuvenation business and port equipment engineering services with PORT offering more than 10 years of experience in this field.”
In addition, PORT is also researching the possibility of automating business processes outside the Port that are still related to PORT's business activities, for example automation of parts of the logistics chain. Logistics costs in Indonesia are still too high and many are caused by factors that occur outside the port.
Regarding future business challenges, PORT assesses that there will be several risks that need to be anticipated especially in terms of energy costs. In addition, the Company also anticipates a decrease in port equipment sales, which is irregular.
"To overcome these risks, aside from developing services and increasing productivity, next year PORT will continue to improve cost efficiency by rejuvenating several port equipment and targeting a 5% increase in revenue from the terminal operator segment," continued Paul.
For information, since 2004, PORT has managed Terminal 300 with a productivity of around 60 boxes per ship operating hour. One of PORT's subsidiaries, PT PBM Adipurusa, in the past 5 years has achieved a 2-fold increase in volume from the same pier and field. The increase in volume was obtained from the increase in productivity.
"During 2021 the Company will continue to focus on increasing efficiency and controlling operating costs and continuing to improve the quality of service to customers to ensure that throughput can be maintained in the face of challenges resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic." said Paul.
Meanwhile, in terms of performance, until the third quarter of 2021, PORT's revenue was recorded at Rp.994.01 billion, up 1% from the same period last year, with the largest revenue contribution coming from the stevedoring service segment which reached Rp.516.9 billion or of 52% of the Company's total revenue. This achievement increased 9% compared to the same period last year.
