Batam Island is Confirmed to be a Special Economic Zone

INDUSTRY.co.id - Batam - Batam Island Board Member who is also Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial / Head of BPN, Sofyan Djalil ensures Batam Island becomes Special Economic Zone (KEK), no longer Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
"Batam KEK, it seems all the benefits of SEZ obtained," said Minister of ATR / Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil in Batam, Riau Islands, Thursday (28/12/2017)
SEZ incentives can be enjoyed by business actors located in government-designated areas.
But the Minister of ATR who is also a member of the Batam Regional Council has not confirmed how and wherever the location of the KEK Batam. "Do not know how many locations," he said.
Sofyan also did not confirm whether Pulau Rempang and Pulau Galang which is currently still the status quo, will enter in KEK Batam.
He said Batam Island Council which consists of several Ministers still working on the concept of KEK Batam, under the leadership of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution.
"FTZ Batam no longer exists, how the details are being arranged, I am a member but have not talked about it," he told media crew in Batam.
According to him, the policy made for Batam will be comprehensive, so that the island can again become the locomotive of the Indonesian economy.
"For Batam, it should be a comprehensive policy in solving the problem," he said.
Asked about the status of Pulau Rempang and Pulau Galang, he claimed to have not received any information. He also said he did not know the current condition of Pulau Galang.
