"The Pupuk Indonesia Group's business activities have a lot of contacts with various stakeholders so that Pupuk Indonesia is committed to always prioritize the sustainability aspect through economic, environmental and social performance approach," said Director of Technology of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) M Djohan Safri after receiving the award "Best Sustainability Report 2016 Category Manufactures "at the Sustainability Reporting Award 2017 held by the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR) at Lor In Solo Hotel, Central Java, last weekend.
He said Pupuk Indonesia always strives to achieve the goal to participate in implementing and supporting government policies and programs, especially in ensuring national food security.
"Therefore, this year our theme is 'suistanibility reporting' which means fostering sustainability towards food security for the welfare of the nation," he said.
In addition, he said, two subsidiaries of Pupuk Indonesia, PT Petrokimia Gresik million managed to get "Commendation for Best Disclosure on Environment Responsibility" and PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur get "Commendation for Best Disclosure on Waste Management".
"This award is the third time for Pupuk Indonesia, previously in 2015 Pupuk Indonesia won first place, 2016 won runner up and in 2017 as a champion in this category of 'manufactures'," he said.
Meanwhile, on performance achievement, he said, in 2017, profit recorded by PT Pupuk Indonesia reached about Rp2, 3 trillion.
"We are still in the process of auditing this year, we also have a urea fertilizer factory project in Petrokimia Gresik, and in August 2018 we hope to start production for commercial purposes," he said.
It hopes that with the operation of the new plant production figures can increase.
Regarding last year's production volume, he said, from the total government assignment to distribute 9.55 million tons, 97.4 percent or 9,97,956 tons was absorbed with the data still "unaudited" or audit process.
Total production as a whole in 2017 amounted to 11,415,118 tons or an increase compared to the total production of 2016 amounted to 10,458,617 tons. (Ant)
