INDUSTRY.co.id - In a bid to accelerate COVID-19 vaccination to achieve herd immunity, the Government continues to boost COVID-19 vaccination.

As of 23 May, the Government has announced it has administered 24.81 million doses of vaccine.

“We have administered 24.81 million doses of vaccines. 14.93 million doses at the first batch and 9.88 million doses at the second batch,” said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in Jakarta, Monday (24/05).

Airlangga, who also helms COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPCPEN), added that the Government will secure eight million more doses of Sinovac’s bulk vaccine to meet its vaccination target, adding that there will be total 83.9 million doses of vaccine that Indonesia has secured.

On that occasion, Airlangga also stressed that the Government would continue to be vigilant against COVID-19 variants from abroad, one of which is COVID-19 cluster at Hilma Bulker MV in Cilacap regency in Central Java province where 14 crew members have tested positive for B.1.617 variant of COVID-19.

“According to President’s directive, (those working at) ships and ports are prioritized for vaccination, especially for ships that have been or come from India. The crew members have to be isolated on the ship for fourteen days,” Airlangga remarked.
