Indonesia Receives 1.4 Million More Doses of Sinopharm Vaccine

INDUSTRY.co.id - Indonesia Tuesday (13/07) received another batch of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

“Today we received approximately 1,408,000 ready-to-use Sinopharm vaccine doses,” Deputy to Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Pahala Nugraha Mansury said in an online press conference, Tuesday (13/07).

According to him, in the next three days another batch of Sinopharm vaccine with a total of four million doses will also arrive and will be used for the mutual cooperation (gotong royong) vaccination scheme.

“We hope that the Sinopharm vaccine imported by PT Kimia Farma, a subsidiary of Bio Farma (state pharmaceutical company), will be used for mutual cooperation vaccination scheme,” he said.

The Deputy Minister also said that the mutual cooperation vaccination scheme is a complementary program to support the Government’s vaccination drive in its effort to achieve herd immunity.

Pahala also praised all stakeholders who have supported the arrival of the Sinopharm vaccine, including Ministry of Health, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and state-owned enterprises.

For the record, the recent arrival of the vaccine is the 22nd batch of the overall COVID-19 vaccine received by Indonesia and the third batch of Sinopharm vaccine.

The Sinopharm vaccine uses inactivated COVID-19 virus and received an emergency use listing (EUL) from the World Health Organization (WHO) in May this year.

The vaccine has also received approval from 56 countries with an efficacy rate of 79 percent.
