INDUSTRY.co.id - Indonesia received eight million more doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine in the form of bulk vaccine on Thursday (22/07).
“Today we receive eight million more vaccine doses through the arrival of the 29th batch of Sinovac vaccine. It is part of the Government’s commitment to protect the entire nation of Indonesia from COVID-19,” Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said in a press conference welcoming the arrival of the vaccine.
Yaqut said that the vaccination program is an important part in achieving herd immunity.
“The Government aims to provide vaccine rollout for two million people per day in August. It requires an adequate supply of vaccine and the arrival of the 29th batch of the vaccine will accelerate the national vaccination program,” he said.
In the press conference, the Minister also said that the vaccine rollout would not be delivered optimally without public support. To that end, he invited the public, especially religious leaders and leaders of mass organizations and religious institutions, to continue to join hands for the successful vaccine rollout by visiting vaccination centers and helping to disseminate information to the public.
Yaqut also appealed to the public to maintain self-discipline in observing health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. He also called on the public to support each other in maintaining health protocols.
Closing the statement, the Minister appealed to the people living in zones with Level-4 or Level-3 restrictions, red zones, and orange zones to perform prayer at home.
