Jokowi: GBK Stadium Ready to Used, Here Is A New Face

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Today, President Joko Widodo is planned to inaugurate the newly renovated Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK).

Once unveiled, GBK Stadium will host the inaugural match between Indonesia's national football team against Iceland.

"Seven months before the 2018 Asian Games, renovation of Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium finally finished and ready for use, and this is the face of the new GBK Main Stadium," wrote the President on his Facebook account on Saturday (13/1/2018).

In his Facebook account Jokowi said, GBK can accommodate the capacity of 80,000 spectators with better seat quality. There is one seat type (single seat) and fold (flip up) that has met the standard of evacuation accessibility.

"Each seat is able to withstand loads up to 250 kilograms and is not easily withdrawn so as to withstand the action of vandalism," said Jokowi.

In addition, continued Jokowi, this stadium also has followed the FIFA standards in security aspects. In an emergency, within 15 minutes, the stadium should be empty.

The stadium will be illuminated by 3,500 lux lights. It's three times brighter than before, but 50 percent more efficient because it uses LEDs instead of conventional lights.

The GBK lighting system, continued the President, is integrated with a powerful sound system up to 80,000 watts of PMPO. With such a sound system, the "Indonesia Raya" national anthem sung at the opening ceremony will sound more dramatic.

Furthermore, Jokowi stated, surface of the field will be lined with the best kind of grass, zoysia matrella, which is equipped with automatic sprinklers to drainage system anti flood.

"The GBK Main Stadium is scheduled to be inaugurated on Sunday tomorrow, and immediately used for a friendly soccer match between the Indonesian National Team against Iceland," the president said.

On the other hand, Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the renovation of Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) has been completed 100 percent and is ready for use for the Asian Games XVIII Year 2018.

The renovation of SUGBK has been done since August 2016 with PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk and PT Penta Rekayasa Kerjasama Operasi (KSO) contractors with contract value of Rp 769.7 billion.

Meanwhile, construction management consultant is PT Deta Decon and PT Multi Karadiguna Jasa KSO with contract value Rp 10,2 billion. There is also a venue renovation project listed as a cultural heritage building was worked with a period of 14 months.

Overall for the venue renovation and GBK area structuring done by the Ministry of PUPR progress has reached 99 percent. Because, although some sports venues have been completed, but the work of structuring the new GBK area started in May 2017 is still in final settlement.

"For sports venues almost entirely completed and we will propose inaugurated one by one by Mr. President," close Minister Basuki.
