INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Vice Chairman of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Dito Ganinduto, warned that the national fertilizer industry should be able to follow the world fertilizer price competition through efficient fertilizer production.
This was revealed by Dito Ganinduto while visiting the ground breaking of NPK fertilizer plant at PT Pupuk Sriwijaya (Pusri), Palembang, as quoted by press release received in Jakarta, Friday (5/11/2018).
Dito hopes, PT Pusri as one of the national fertilizer industry can run a "public service obligation" (PSO) or a good public service obligation for farming communities.
"With the competition in this world of globalization, the fertilizer production of PT Pusri must be able to follow the trend of globalization in terms of cost efficiency of production," said Dito Ganinduto.
According to him, by streamlining the cost of fertilizer production, the farmers are expected to obtain cheap and affordable fertilizer. "This cheap fertilizer, at the same time can reduce the burden of subsidies from the government to farmers," he said.
Previously, reportedly the government will remove the subsidies for the national fertilizer industry. The fertilizer subsidy will be transformed into direct subsidies to farmers through Farmer Card, so that the fertilizer production process in the future is expected to be more efficient. "The scheme is expected to reduce the burden on the state budget," he said.
Ground Breaking of the NPK fertilizer plant at PT Pusri was held on Friday, along with the launch of an industrial vocational program by Airlangga Hartarto Minister of Industry in South Sumatra.
The program involves 48 industries and 176 Vocational schools from South Sumatera, Jambi, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung and Lampung provinces.
