Receive Exxon Chairman Woods, President Jokowi Appreciates Cooperation in Building a Green Petrochemical Refinery

INDUSTRY co.id - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Exxon Mobil Corporation Chairman Darren Woods at the Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco, United States (US), Wednesday (15/11/2023).
During the meeting, plans for decarbonization cooperation through the construction of a green petrochemical refinery and carbon capture storage (CCS) were discussed.
" I appreciate the cooperation plan to build a green petrochemical refinery and carbon capture storage (CSS) with a value of up to USD 15 billion," said the President at the meeting.
The CSS facility is planned to be one of the largest in Southeast Asia, while the green petrochemical refinery is one of the most advanced in the world.
"I am pleased to hear that the CCS facility will be the largest in Southeast Asia and Exxon's petrochemical complex will be one of the most advanced in the world," he added.
In a separate statement, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno LP Marsudi said that in the meeting President Jokowi also invited Exxon Mobil Corporation to be involved in the development of new, renewable energy (EBT) and green infrastructure in Indonesia, including in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
"The President also invited ExxonMobil to invest in new and renewable energy and also green infrastructure development," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Also accompanying President Jokowi at the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, and Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan. (BPMI SETPRES/UN)
