Indonesia Ready to Become a Mediator Resolve Myanmar Crisis

INDUSTRY.co.id - Kazakhstan - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said the Indonesian Government is ready to become a mediator that bridges Islamic countries to resolve the crisis in Myanmar.
"OKI hopes to invite Indonesia to work together to solve the case in Rohingya, I say later we can discuss the program with the Secretary General of OIC," said the Vice President after the First Conference of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Summit of OKI) on science and technology at The Palace of Independence in Astana, Kazakhstan, Sunday (10/09/2017)
The Vice President said that in relation to the crisis in the state of Rakhine, Myanmar, Indonesia is actually doing what other countries can not do because other countries are difficult to enter Myanmar.
"Indonesia can at any time communicate with the Government of Myanmar," said the Vice President.
Earlier, in the opening of the OKI Summit on Science and Technology Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev as chairman of the organizers also touched on the crisis in Myanmar.
"We care about Myanmar, we will also open a dialogue to discuss this issue at the UN forum," said President Nazarbayev.
It will also bring the resolution of the crisis to the UN Human Rights Commission to search for the truth and conduct an independent investigation into international human rights violations and laws.
It also expects the Myanmar government to resolve the root causes of the crisis including citizenship and the rights of Rohingyas.
The OIC summit also led to the conclusion that it is important for the Government of Myanmar to address the refugee problem to return home safely, protected and dignified in Rakhine.
The OIC also urges member countries and international organizations to fight for the return of refugees to the UN.
The meeting was attended by a number of heads of state, including, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, President of Guinea Alpha Conde and President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain.
In addition, Mauritania President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz also called on the international community to continue working with the Government of Myanmar to protect the Muslim minority in the territory.
