INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government will prepare the strengthening and renewal of data and information system of taxation to overcome various challenges in the field of taxation in Indonesia is growing.

"We are talking about the importance of building a 'core tax system', which is the data base system and information in taxation that has been recorded 'upgrade' based on the level of development that occurred," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani after conducting a coordination meeting on taxation in Jakarta, Monday (18/09/2017)

Sri Mulyani explained one of the reasons for the strengthening of this data and information system because there has been a significant increase in the number of taxpayers, accompanied by the addition of tax office in various regions in Indonesia.

"The number of taxpayers we have more than tripled, the number of offices of the DGT, KPP, as well as regional offices, also has improved. And also from the level of registration of taxpayers, and management of data, it has been increasingly in need of an 'upgrade' of IT systems," he explained.

In addition, for other reasons, there are now a number of challenges in tax administration from execution of automatic data exchange (AEOI) to the process of completing data in the Annual Income Tax Return (SPT) electronically.

"We are increasingly expanding our tax base data, our 'tax payer', and how to make an overall system from registration, charging tax returns, to tax payments, auditing, to where we do 'payment' and 'repayment' should make a return," he said.
