Antam Change Cikotok Gold Mine Becomes Tourism Area

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), or Antam, transformed one of the underground gold mining areas in Cikotok, Banten Province, into a tourist area. It aims to support the local government program Lebak to realize Cikotok become one of the integrated tourist destinations.
"Lebak Local Government is expected to utilize the assets so that the Park Derek area can be well preserved while supporting integrated tourism program," said Hari Widjajanto, Antam's Operational Director, in Jakarta, Wednesday (20/09/2017).
Day said, in Derek Park, there is a 110-meter deep vertical opening hole created since 1940 to connect the Cikotok underground mine with the surface and transportation of miners.
Derek tower has become a cultural heritage object with the Decree of Lebak District Decree number 004/178-Disporabudpar / V / 2010 on List of Name of Objects of Heritage in Lebak District Local Government.
Hari said, Cikotok will be made by Lebak Government as a geowisata area to complement other tourist attractions such as Cikuya Tea Garden, Sawarna Beach and various waterfalls in Lebak District.
Gold mining in Cikotok has expired in January 2016 with the approval of Lebak Local Government, Banten Province through Regent Approval Letter dated December 11, 2015. Antam has completed the infrastructure in Taman Derek by building the Water Supply System (SPAM), sports stadium facilities, markets and subterminal integrated Cikotok and renovation of Cibeber Community Health Center which is equipped with inpatient facility in Lebak.
